Chocolate Taperia - get yourself a cadbury block instead

5/168 Melbourne Street, North Adelaide SA 0403322881

Nice decor. The rest ...disappointing.
Chocolate Taperia - it's on everyone's lips at the moment . I can recall driving past on numerous ocassions seeing queues of people waiting outside on a Friday/Saturday night trying to get a table. So I was pleasantly suprised when on a Saturday afternoon after doing a spot of shopping in the city, I drove by and noticed it was opened! Faster than you can say 'churros', I'd done a u-turn and had a menu in my hand. I was still quite full from lunch so I decided to just order their 'famous' churros with a side of dark chocolate sauce. Ok so let's cut to the chase, so yes I had high expectations after hearing all the hype surrounding this joint and to my disappointment my expectations were not met. The churros were just well... dry and bland and if it weren't for the (okay) chocolate sauce I probably would've stopped at the first bite. It was a shame that the churros didn't match the lovely decor.

VERDICT: Thumbs down.

Chocolate Taperia on Urbanspoon

  1. I don't think you can hardly give a verdict after only eating one item on the menu..

    1. Hi Anonymous,
I will definitely give Chocolate Taperia another try (cos everyone deserves a second chance) and pick something else out on the menu. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and my verdict is based on the churros I had - which I perceived to be their 'signature' dish. Maybe you can recommend another dessert to try? I'm open to suggestions.

  2. Hi Evelyn,
I have tried to respond a number of times however the website was not letting me. I like your attitude. I understand about the signature dish however when i asked Friday night they said it was the Taperia board - which has many items.

I had the pleasure of tasting the dessert special on Friday night which was the vanilla pannacotta with a Balsamic sauce - this was amazing I highly recommend it. My other suggestion would be the bailey's baviour this is regular menu item.
